Fight Global Warming
by Jose Kyle Gabriel Lagdameo (Grade VI-Perseverance 2011-2012)
Land slides, drought, flash floods, and very strong typhoons are what we encounter daily. If we study the entire crisis we’ve gone through, we can trace it back to global warming. Global warming is an effect due to the ignorance of man. People throw plastic anywhere causing our sewers or “esteros” to be blocked, which in turn can cause dangerous floods.
Another cause of global warming is the excessive use of CFC’s or Chlorofluorocarbons, a cheap and inexpensive chemical for cooling which, however, has a detrimental side effect. It has been found that CFC’s can cause the depletion of the ozone layer. So, how can we solve this? Option A: Be responsible and clean your trash. (Which will take um.......100 years or so?) Option B: Someone make my idea come to life and realistic.
Since matter cannot be destroyed only changed, my idea on how to make the world a lot cleaner and better is a machine which can transform plastic into ozone or oxygen and the remains will become an organic fertilizer. The machine is powered by solar energy, (go green!) so it runs all day and cools all night. Plastic is melted in acid and then transferred to another container where it can be cleaned through black carbon. The plastic is now biodegradable and the air in the container will be released. The gas from the container mixes with CO2 and O2 converting it into ozone or oxygen. The remains of the plastic will be used as an organic fertilizer.
Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone would just be more responsible; even for just another 30% or more will do? Have you breathe fresh air with the smell of jasmine or lavender or felt the cool and refreshing breezes on a hot afternoon? If you have, don’t you miss it?
Now, pollution is everywhere, in the air. Smog has taken its toll in several parts of the Philippines especially in Manila. In the water, the once clear blue waters of our rivers have now become dark brown, with lots of wastes and trash on the sides. Everyday our sewers and canals display gallons and gallons of black muck on our very rivers where we get our fish and water.
We must take a stand and do ourselves a favor and for our mother nature. Due to modernization of our times our nature has suffered a lot from the hands of man, so man should return a favor.
